A buyer opening a container of cast acrylic expects the sheet on top of the pallet to match the sheet on the bottom. Same clarity. Same color density. Same edge quality after laser cutting. That consistency is the whole product — and it is where most sourcing conversations should begin. Price per kilogram is easy to compare. Whether a panel still looks clean after two summers outdoors, whether a light guide panel shows a hot spot behind a logo, whether a 3mm tinted sheet reads the same blue on panel one and panel four hundred: that is the part distributors only learn after the second order.
Jiangxi Ounuo Acrylic Technology Co., Ltd. has been casting PMMA since 2002, when the business started as the Ruian Wuzhou Organic Glass Factory in Zhejiang. The company relocated to Jinxi County, Fuzhou City, Jiangxi in 2013 and now operates eight production lines across a 153,000 square meter site, with a total investment of USD 50 million and annual output above 40,000 tons of acrylic sheet. This article walks through what the range actually contains, how it is made, and what matters when you are specifying it for a market you intend to sell into for years.
Cast versus Extruded: The Difference Shows Up Later
Cast acrylic is produced by pouring MMA monomer between glass molds and letting it polymerize. The result is a higher molecular weight sheet with low internal stress, which is why it machines cleanly, polishes to a flame-like edge, and resists crazing during thermoforming. Extruded sheet is faster and cheaper to make; it is also more prone to stress whitening at cut edges and more prone to yellowing under UV load.
Ounuo's raw material is MMA purchased from LUCITE, and the plant uses imported glass molds from Taiwan together with closed, modern factory buildings and precision inspection instruments. 100% virgin material is the standard across the range — no regrind blended into the cast. That single decision drives most of the downstream performance: better impact resistance, better optical uniformity, and a surface that stays free of the cloudy specks recycled feedstock introduces.
Seven Product Families, One Material Discipline
Clear cast acrylic. Up to 92% light transmission with a glass-like appearance at a fraction of the weight. Available from 1.8mm standard thickness up to heavy-duty thick plate for machine guards, safety shields, soundproof windows and industrial enclosures. Optical-grade clear sheet is cast for distortion-free viewing and is the grade specified for aquariums, luxury retail displays and precision lenses; UV-protected clear sheet is stabilized to resist yellowing for outdoor signage, greenhouse panels and architectural glazing.
Color cast acrylic. More than 40 standard shades spanning translucent jewel tones through deep opaque solids. Translucent colors carry light well for illuminated signage; the full range is formulated to resist fading indoors and out.
Light guide panels (LGP). Optical-grade PMMA sheet that converts edge-lit LEDs into a uniform surface glow. Two processes are offered: laser dotting, where micron-level dots are engraved on the underside with a computer-controlled size and density gradient for 85–93% light uniformity, and nano-doping, where scattering particles are dispersed in the substrate to reach ≥95% uniformity while staying highly transparent when unlit. Surface hardness runs 4H–5H pencil hardness, and the material complies with RoHS.
Day & Night and black sheet. Solid jet black 502 with a mirror-gloss opaque face for channel letters; dark tinted 5910 and light tinted A9900 for see-through, high-contrast architectural and furniture work; and Day & Night Blue 7000, which reads as a deep corporate blue in daylight and glows bright white after dark — a specification built for wayfinding and storefront identity where legibility at distance is the requirement.
Frosted and matte sheet. Offered as single-side matte (one clear face, one frosted face for differential privacy) and double-side matte for uniform light diffusion without hot spots. The textured surface resists fingerprints and handling marks, which matters for any installation a customer will touch.
Fluorescent sheet. High-saturation neon red 991, safety yellow 992 and lime green 993, UV-stabilized and impact resistant for LED letters, point-of-purchase displays, stage props and event work.
Mini letter sheet. Double-sided colored, high-gloss PMMA engineered for ultra-small LED channel letters, giving dual-color front-and-back illumination with clean cutting on intricate detail.
Inside the Plant
The production floor runs on glass-mold casting: filled molds stack in racks, cure under controlled conditions, then strip, trim and inspect. Lines one through three came online in 2015, line four in 2017, lines five and six in 2018 alongside the company's recognition as a National High-tech Enterprise, and lines seven and eight in 2022 — pushing capability past 100 tons per day. Thickness is produced to customer requirement rather than forced into a fixed catalog.
Quality management is accredited to GB/T 7134-2008, ISO 9001:2015 and an environmental management system. Ounuo has been exporting since 2018 into markets including India, Dubai, Malaysia and Vietnam, which means the documentation, packing and loading practice is already built around export buyers rather than domestic orders.
Where the Material Goes
Clear sheet becomes protective barriers, picture frames, retail fixtures, bent furniture components and aquarium viewing panels. Colored and fluorescent sheet feeds sign shops running channel letters, light boxes and event builds. Light guide panels sit inside slim LED light boxes, LCD backlight modules, medical X-ray viewers and illuminated cabinetry. Frosted sheet handles office partitions, shower enclosures, ceiling diffusers and backlit display panels. Day & Night sheet belongs on the exterior of banks, hotels, malls and corporate campuses. Thick plate carries the industrial side: machine guarding, safety shields and heavy protective barriers.
Sourcing Notes
Three things decide whether a cast acrylic program works for a distributor. Grade discipline — confirm whether the quote is virgin PMMA or a blended sheet, because the difference surfaces in the second year, not the first week. Color matching — ask for a physical sample set and lock the reference before a production run, particularly for tinted and Day & Night grades where density variation shows across multi-panel installs. Fabrication fit — laser cutting, CNC routing, thermoforming and screen printing all behave differently across cast grades, so specify the downstream process at the inquiry stage and let the mill match the sheet to it.
Ounuo's stated philosophy is straightforward: quality first, customers supreme, with a long-term partnership model rather than a transactional one. For buyers building a private-label or distribution program, that translates into consistent formulation across repeat orders and a factory that will produce to your thickness and color specification.
Talk to the Factory
If you are sourcing cast acrylic for signage, lighting, architectural or industrial distribution, send your specification — grade, thickness, color reference, sheet size and target market — and the team will respond with the matching product family and sample arrangement.
